The Little Victories

Posted by: beaner927 on: August 27, 2006

(I had to change my background because I moved my computer to a new desk & the screen is farther away from my face & I couldn’t read the text anymore. I’ll see if this works better!)

Dwight’s co-worker is moving & we bought this Home Fitness Gym thing from him for a really low price. It came in pieces, but he had lost the instruction book, so last night Dwight & I figured out how to put this thing back together & we did not fight – NOT EVEN ONCE! That is a victory from God people! You see, in the past, Dwight & I could NOT work together well at all. Last night, even though we disagreed where we thought one particular piece should go, neither one of us got upset. You just gotta love the little victories!

Also, Jessica did very well during her first 2 full days of school. She didn’t cry, she didn’t get in trouble, and she seems to be adjusting quite well. Nick is doing well in 2nd grade too & is taking on more responsibilities with no complaint. Now if only my kids could be this good at home too!!!

I am learning that some of the BEST praise that I can give to God is to just be thankful for what I have & spend time enjoying my life. It’s been so much fun to blast my music & sing at the top of my lungs. I might be liking this empty house a bit too much!

Alas, I have applied for a job. Just a part-time job at Old Navy, but I really like the idea of going to work in flip-flops & jeans!!! I’m not really concerned with the money part of it (much to Dwight’s dismay), but I just want to keep myself busy while the kids are gone. However, I HATE these stupid applications that I have to fill out. They ask you a whole bunch of “What if” questions about situations you might find yourself in. The worst part is that there are these ‘Always/Never’ questions & then they ask you to answer ‘Yes or No’. As far as I’m concerned, the only person who qualifies for an always/never question is God (or Jesus). Here’s an example: Do you always tell the truth? Yes or No? Here’s another strange question: If an employee stole something from your store worht less than $5 would you fire him/her? Yes or No? They don’t even give you any way to say ‘It would depend on the person, their history, reason, character, etc. Just ‘Yes or No’. And “Have you ever thought about taking something from your workplace, but then didn’t?” I hated that application!

It’s time to go veg on the couch with my husband – we’ve had a busy day of moving furniture. We’ve had to rearrange some of the house due to the workout gym. I’m so excited to use it – I’m gonna be so buff! :)

I too hate those questions and always struggle to know how to answer them honestly!

Glad to hear the kids are doing well in school. Much to my initial suprise, and after much angst, we’ve decided to continue homeschooling the kids. They will also attend a suplimentary school once a week.

Going to a job in flip-flops and jeans would be great! My mother found me a treadmill at a garage sale, I’ve used 4 times in 2 weeks, losing motivation already. With kids in school, do you have time to meet for lunch?

Ooohh…now you’ll have an “in” on the bargains. Ooohh…now I’ll have an “in” on the bargains. hehehehehehehe

Good luck on the job possibility.

BTW-I’m trying to put together a Fantasy Football League and right now it has a giant Jeanna and Dwight sized hole in it!

Old Navy would be a great place to spend lots of time! Unfortunately for me, I’m afraid my whole paycheck would go right back to the source. Good luck!!

Like the new look, but you gotta fix that clock! I was wondering if you really posted this at 2 am. :)

Allen – I’m in! You know, a WINNER has to come back & defend HER crown!
