What’s My Motivation?

Posted by: beaner927 on: August 29, 2006

Why do I do what I do? Is it for my glory or His?

Why do I say what I say? Do I need the praise or am I praising Him?

Why do I feel what I feel? Am I seeking acceptance or am I seeking His truth?

Why do I cry? Is it because someone else hurt my feelings or because they might be right?

Why do I ask myself tough questions? Is it because I want to be a better person or because I want to be right with Him?

Why do I carry my cross each day? Is it because I want people to see me carrying it or because I want them to see Jesus’ strength carrying it for me?

Why do I seek change? Is it because I want what’s best for me or because I want what’s best for God’s Kingdom?

Lord, forgive me for all the ways that I may have lived for my own glory. I want people to see YOUR POWER working in me. I want people to see ALL the possiblities that life in You brings. I want people to see that my marriage is alive & well because YOU resurrected it & gave it new life. If You can do that Lord, then I know You have the power to resurrect my purpose in life – to live for You. Give me courage, strength, passion, commitment, gentleness (lots of gentleness) and above all, love. Amen

Good questions to ask along side the ever popular “What would Jesus do?” Thanks for putting them down on paper, so I will be motivated to take a deeper look at my own life.
